A student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife identified as Opeyemi Grace Dara has on Friday been confirmed to have committed suicide.

The deceased student of the Faculty of Arts, Department of English and Literature as reported by http://oaupeeps.com perpetrated the act after taking a dose of lethal substance (snipper).

The details of the incident although still sketchy, has however been confirmed by the school authorities that the deceased committed suicide owing to poor academic performances.

While speaking with newsmen, the school Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju appealed to students against engaging in such act.

He said, “We sympathise with the parents and guardian of the deceased called Dara. We just want our students and young ones to know that depression is not a thing they should encourage, no matter the situation or circumstance they find themselves.”

“The University will get to the root of the incident and get back to the public.” he concluded.
