The experienced 4-year term serving Senator, Sen. Ishola Oluwatofunmi Emmanuel from the 400L constituency on Wednesday, 4th February, 2020 emerged as the new Senate President of the National Association of Political Science Students, University of Ibadan chapter.
The Senate arm of the department, on Wednesday, held her final sitting of the 2018/2019 academic session which had on it agenda amongst other things, the Presentation of Financial Statement of Account; Ratification of Dinner Budget; Dissolution and Inauguration of Senate Members; and Election of new Principal Officers.
Sen. Oluwatofunmi emerged victorious after competing with fellow senior and experienced colleague from the same constituency, Sen. Ewaoluwakoyipada. With a total of 15 votes, the new Senate President won after amassing a total of 10 votes.
“I shall ensure proper consultations and deliberations among members of the House before any legislation is made.” Sen. Oluwatofunmi said.
He also said he “greatly appreciate” the trust his colleagues have reposed in him and assured he will deliver on his promises as articulated in his manifesto.
Occupying other positions as principal officers of the legislative arm for the 2019/2020 academic session is Sen. Deborah (300L constituency) as the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Alimi Yusuf (200L constituency) as the Clerk, and Sen. Emmanuel (400L constituency) as the Chief Whip.
